31DC2014 - Movie: Pirates of the Caribbean Inspired Stamping Mani

The themes of 31DC2014 have gone into 'Inspired by' part, and I really enjoy looking at everyone's creations. I think that's where you can really get personal and creative. I looked through my plate collection and thought this was a great opportunity to try out my new plates.

There was a group buy going on few months ago for Chez Delaney stamping plates at Facebook AiS group, and I took part of it. I bought 5 plates through the buy and they arrived early this month. 

For this mani, I used two of those plates - Marin 003 & Halloween 002. For middle finger and ring finger, I started off with BC Co. Shade #26 (beige) and dabbed brown, gray and white with a piece of saran wrap. I then stamped a pirate skull, a pirate flag, and a skinny line stamp from Marin 003 plate. For other fingers, I did sponge gradient with red and black and stamped a skull pattern from Halloween 002 with Mundo de Uñas Reddish. I mattified with OPI Matte topcoat, and ta-dah! Pirates of the Caribbean inspired mani was born :)

This came out better than I thought. I test stamped these two plates, and I had a bit of trouble with Marin 003. It didn't stamp very well with normal polish I usually use for test stamp on paper, but Mundo gave a lot better result (still not perfect). I think it has shallow etching so I was a bit disappointed and wasn't sure I wanted to use it for this mani. I tried anyway and it worked quite good on my real nails. Halloween 002 has no etching problem as far as I can see.

These 5 plates cost me $65 in total (including shipping). The shipping was expensive because the group buy organiser was in U.S and I added insurance. I absolutely love the images on the plates though. They are definitely unique in my collection and I can see myself using them a lot. It's just pity that the quality is not as good as I thought.

31DC2014チャレンジの今日のテーマは「映画」。このチャレンジの最後の1/3のお題はInspired by（~からインスパイヤ）のシリーズになるので、参加者の個性が出て面白いです。映画テーマのネイルといえば、5月にやった「ゴーストライダー」ネイル、今でもよくスタンパー仲間との会話にあがります。「カシスの代表作と言えばゴーストライダー」的な扱いになっています。少し前もFacebookのグループで知らない人から「あなたのゴーストライダーネイルが好きすぎてネイルサロンで再現してもらいました」と言われて写真を見せてもらったり。非常にこそばゆい、不思議な感じです(ﾟ∀ﾟ)

それで、今日はどの映画にしよう？と思ってプレートを見回していると、あったあった。いいの見つけちゃった。ではまず出来上がりをどうぞ。

今回、新しいブランドのプレートを使ってみました。Chez Delaneyという、ネイル用品全般を売っている会社です。７月にFacebookのグループでGroup buyが開催されていて、直接Chez Delaneyから買うよりそちらの方が少し安かったこともあり参加しました。購入したプレートは５枚。今回はそのうち２枚を使用しました。

中指と薬指はBC Co. Shade #26 (ベージュ）でスタート。サランラップテクニックで茶、灰色、白の順に色をぽんぽんと置いていき、Marin 003というプレートから海賊のスカル、海賊旗、それから細い線のスタンプを追加。他の指は赤と黒のスポンジグラデーションの上にHalloween 002プレートからスカル柄をMundo de Uñas Reddishでスタンプ。RevlonでトップコートしてからOPIマットトップコートを塗って「パイレーツオブカリビアン」ネイルの出来上がり(ﾟ∀ﾟ)

 肝心のプレートの品質はどうだったかというと・・・・。残念ながらMarin 003の彫りがやや浅め。紙にテストしたところ、いつもテストに使う通常ポリッシュでは転写できず、Mundoに切り替えてかろうじてという感じでした。大枚はたいて買ったのにちょっとガッカリ。使う気が失せてこのテーマ自体スキップしようかと思ったのですが、一応自爪に転写したところまずまずうまくいったのでほっ。Halloween 002の品質は良好。

プレートは５枚＋送料で６５００円ほどしました。直接サイトから買ったわけではなく、グループバイ経由（主催者はアメリカの人）だったので、アメリカからの保険ありの送料が高かったです。直接買うのとそんなに金額的に変わらなかったかも。プレートの柄はどれもユニークで好きです。ただ、値段の割に品質がちょっと残念でした。５枚のうち保護シールが貼ってあるプレートと貼ってないプレートもあったりして、それもなんだかなぁという感じ。やっぱりあちこち浮気しないでMoYou買っとくのが一番かな、と実感。

話をネイルに戻して、出来栄えには割と満足しています。サランラップのもやもやしたベースも赤黒グラデーションも好きです。薬指の海賊旗、最初失敗したかと思ったのですが、写真で大写しで見ると旗の海賊柄がしっかり出ていて一安心。他の参加者の皆さんの映画ネイルを見るのが楽しみです。
