Retro Butterfly Mani

August 22nd Update: I replaced the video at the end of this post with YouTube version.

I have received some amazing products that were sent for review, and been busy trying to have the review posts up in a timely manner, so I almost forgot to post this mani which I created about a week ago.

Thumb, middle & ring finger: I started off with Sally Hansen Mint Sorbet, placed few strips of striping tapes vertically on each nail, and painted Rimmel Grey Matter over the tapes. I peeled off the tapes immediately, and topcoated to smooth out the surface. I stamped a floral pattern from MoYou London Tourist 07 plate using my friend Coppi's franken 'Coral', coloured in with white to make a decal, and placed it on those nails. I also made a decal out of butterfly patterns from Mother Nature 01 plate using Ya Qin An Chocolate & Purple (sent by Harunouta), coloured in with beige and purple respectively, and placed that on top of flower decal. I finished off with Glisten & Glow HK Girl topcoat, followed by Essie Matte About You.

Pointer & pinkie: Process is exactly the same except that I made them simple with just butterfly decals.

I went for a retro, muted look, but I think it looks too muted for my liking. Once I put matte topcoat though, it started to grow on me. I couldn't decide what colours to use and tried so many different combinations. In the process, I came up with some trick to easily check the colour combos - what base colour to go with what stamping polish colour and what colour to use for colouring in. I'm hoping to share that in video one day.

親指、中指、薬指: ベースはSally Hansen Mint Sorbet。ラインテープを数本縦に置き、上からRimmel Grey Matterを塗る。テープをすぐに剥がし、トップコートを塗って表面をならす。MoYou London Tourist 07プレートの花柄をこっぴさんからいただいたフランケン'Coral'でスタンプし、白で色付けしてdecalを作成し、爪に乗せる。次に、Mother Nature 01プレートのチョウチョをYa Qin An ChocolateとPurple（春の歌からいただいたもの）でスタンプしてベージュと紫でそれぞれ色付けし、花のdecalの上に乗せる。仕上げはまずGlisten & Glow HK Girlトップコートを塗ってからEssie Matte About Youでマット化。

人差し指と小指: プロセスは上とほぼ同じ。シンプルにチョウチョのdecalのみ。

So this is a double-decal mani. I needed to apply the clear coat thin so the decals won't get thick
as they overlap. It still felt uneven after HK Girl topcoat, but it got nice and flat after mattifying

テーマは「レトロ」と決めていたので、あまり主張しない色を選んだのですが、この色選びが大変だったorz。ベースの色、その上のスタンプの色、色付けに使う色・・・本当に色んな組み合わせを試しました。そんな中で比較的簡単に色の組み合わせを確認できる方法を思い立ったので、そのうち動画にしてみたいと思います。

このチョウチョに使ったYa Qin An Purple、少し滲んでますよね？どうもdecal化に使っているEssenceクリアポリッシュとの相性が良くないようです。良い色なのに残念。でもインスタでuLさんに「滲みの効果がすごく素敵」というコメントをいただいて、あ～これはこれで良かったのかなと心が慰められました。

それと、こっぴさんからいただいた'Coral'、大活躍しております(ﾟ∀ﾟ) 一緒にいただいたCafe Latteもものすごく素敵な色なので、もっともっと使っていかねば^^
